12 bit image binned into 16 gray levels

Hi,

I am using a Pixelink PL-D752 which can be 8 or 12 bit (CameraSpecs.jpg), and using NI MAX with pixel format set to Mono16 and output format set to Grayscale (U16). I have recently reset settings, previously also configured data to be 16bit but am now seeing an intensity distorted image where data is divided amongst 16 greyscale values (ImproperlyBinnedImage.jpg).

When I set pixel format and output format to 8 bit, or when I check Swap Pixel Byte I recover a correct image. However I want to use the full 12 bit data range, and my old LabVIEW code won't work with Swap Pixel Byte checked.

This problem looks somewhat similar to this post however I have tried changing Bits Per Pixel to 12-bit, and did not see any change.

I've also attached all my other settings if they prove useful.
